Updated: Mar 25, 2022

Our employee spotlight is our latest blog series where we get up-close and personal with some amazing team members making a difference at VEERUM. We have always attributed the success and growth of our organization to the strength and diversity of our team. So, we’re excited to highlight a hardworking team member each week.

This week, I was delighted to speak with VEERUM team member Julio Vinicius to learn more about his role, the importance of security at VEERUM, and some exciting projects he’s working on. Meet Julio, Site Reliability Engineer, professor, and comic book enthusiast.

What is your role at VEERUM?

As a Site Reliability Engineer at VEERUM, I maintain and continually improve our cloud-based operations and on-premises infrastructure, also ensuring that all policies are accurate and up-to-date against our certifications. I also collaborate with developers to ensure that the technologies in use are compatible. On the operational pillar of the company, it is our team's responsibility to ensure that everything runs smoothly and maintain the security of our application and client data.

What are you passionate about?

I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge and collaborating to solve problems. I teach two software development courses at a local college. I teach both C# programming and web application development using the MEAN stack. It sounds like a lot of work to most people, but when you do something you love, it’s fun.

What is an exciting project you’re working on right now?

Right now, I’m working to increase our application speed around the globe. Whether you’re in North America, Asia, or Europe this project aims to make the VEERUM application even faster for our global users.

What is unique about your role?

I like that my role is a composition of so many different skills and technical challenges. In order to succeed, you need to have good knowledge of software engineering, information security, infrastructure, and cloud computing. VEERUM has some incredible opportunities ahead of us as we continue to advance our virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies and it’s special to be a part of that.
