2020 BY THE NUMBERS
It has been a year of new firsts at VEERUM, despite the many unexpected obstacles that 2020 brought forth. During this unpredictable time, we remained true to our values and responsibilities to our team members, clients, and the communities in which we operate. We’re proud to have played a part in ensuring the safety, success, and efficiency in building and maintaining the world’s critical infrastructure this year. As 2020 draws to a close, here we present a snapshot of this year’s milestones and what we’re looking forward to in 2021.

JANUARY
VEERUM introduces a new vision statement—“The world’s platform to see itself”
With exciting prospects on the horizon for 2020, VEERUM team pivoted its vision statement to align the team’s goals and identity for the future.

FEBRUARY
VEERUM develops new client-focused solutions
In 2020, VEERUM focuses on understanding client pain points and tailoring solutions to client needs:
Progress monitoring improvement: It should be simple for clients to understand their site in real-time conditions. This is why we made it possible for frequent, timely and accurate progress monitoring reports to be posted live to the VEERUM application for quick decision making.
Asset management solution: We made it easier than ever to aggregate all existing asset data into the VEERUM 3D viewer.
Simple integrations: With new integrations, you can add value to your existing digital investments such as SAP, IBM Maximo, OSI PI by connecting them to VEERUM’s application.

MARCH
VEERUM sends all its employees to work from home
On March 12th, 2020, VEERUM cancelled all employee travel and gatherings, and all team members were instructed to work from home.

“In 2020, I am especially proud of the way that VEERUM handled the COVID-19 pandemic. The health, safety, and mental well-being of our employees was at the forefront of our strategy. We reacted quickly, developed a plan to protect our employees, as well as the business, and we managed to come through the early parts of the pandemic stronger.”
—Chris Bacon, Director of Finance

APRIL
Client safety is at the forefront of VEERUM operations
VEERUM focused on ways to help clients tackle the most pressing challenges of our time, and prioritize safety, reduce site exposure, and increase efficiency to meet the world’s growing infrastructure needs across all sectors.

“Many of our customers had to urgently remove non-essential staff from their operating sites and projects. VEERUM was there to assist by quickly establishing a user friendly, remote, and safe way to secure business continuity. We removed the complications of geography by bringing the site to the client teams. The VEERUM model will outlast the current pandemic, and will be a new normal going forward with a focus on improving safety, environmental
performance and productivity gains.”
—Trevor MacMaster, CCO

“2020 was a challenging year for many of our clients and for each of us as individuals. I was impressed at how quickly everyone rallied and embraced technology to overcome the new reality of work in a post-COVID world. We saw a huge uptake in remote work, enabled by tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams and of course, VEERUM Smart Site. Clients minimized travel and field hours by embracing remote work in new and innovative ways to stay safe during a global
pandemic - what a huge highlight of the year!”
—Rob Southon, CTO

MAY
New team members
We are immensely grateful to provide an application of value to our clients during the pandemic and in a rapidly changing business landscape. This has allowed us to onboard 12 new team members in 2020. The growth and resilience of our business is a testament to our client’s success —we look forward to continuing these partnerships.

"There’s been a shift in the mindsets of people to accept remote work and remote collaboration. It’s exciting to see both our clients and new employees embrace technology.”
—Scott Benesh, Co-Founder and VP Capital Projects

JUNE
VEERUM contracts three new tier 1 clients
VEERUM onboarded three new clients in June in support of their remote collaboration efforts. We have a line of site on renewals or project expansions for these three clients leading into 2021.

JULY
Keeping the team connected while being apart
To maintain cohesiveness while working apart, VEERUM held regular video conferences to identify any bottlenecks, inefficiencies or suggested updates for business practices. VEERUM’s executive team leads weekly all-teams meetings to share client wins, personal updates, and demos of our latest product features. We’ve also focused on team-building remotely: we’ve had virtual costume parties, online cooking lessons, virtual game nights, and team happy hours.

AUGUST
VEERUM releases user-created-objects
Throughout 2020, VEERUM’s product team worked closely with the solutions team to develop high-value features and integrations for client problems. In one of the biggest launches of the year, we put the power of “object capabilities” in our user’s hands, allowing users to add, organize, edit, connect, and link user-created asset information in the 3D site.

“We wanted to give our clients the ability to access data in more intuitive ways than ever before. We empowered them to drive actionable insights from new data right in the field or in their home office to really provide the feeling of being on site, without going to site.”
—Rob Southon, CTO

SEPTEMBER
VEERUM successfully completes SOC 2 Type 1 certification
This audit affirms that VEERUM meets the SOC 2 standards for security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy of client data. VEERUM is now in the process of achieving SOC 2 Type 2, set to be completed towards the end of 2021. In addition to SOC 2 compliance, VEERUM is continuing to enhance its infrastructure and make investments in establishing and maintaining the highest level of application security.

“One thing that stands out for me in 2020 is achieving our SOC 2 certification. It’s something that a lot of companies our size are not able to do. We set out our plan, allocated the correct resources, worked together as a team and became SOC 2 compliant. This will be key to the success of our company moving forward.”
—Chris Bacon, Director of Finance
